                               GUARDIANSHIPS

There are two main categories of guardianships in Illinois.  Guardianship of a Minor (under age 18) and Guardianship of a Disabled Adult.  Temporary Guardianship of a Minor may be made without court authority and we can assist you with the necessary paperwork.  If more permanency is needed, then a Petition for Guardianship for the Estate and/or Person should be filed with the court.  Once a guardianship order is entered by the court, it cannot be terminated without court order and the guardian is required to file annual reports to the court.  Julia will be able to walk you through the options and help you to determine the best option based on your situation.
